In August 2007 Scan, along with partners City Eye and Quay Arts undertook a presence at the White Air Extreme Sports Festival, Newport, Isle of Wight. This event formed a key part of all our organisations’ commitment to develop new audiences and ways of working. During the course of the festival a number of workshops were run, including DJ workshops, Camera and editing skills, and an animation masterclass. Alongside this John Cattle (Film-maker & owner of Wight Trash skateboards), Steven Lewis (Film-maker) and David White (City Eye) documented the proceedings of the festival, editing on-site and making small clips for mobile phones. Using bluetooth technology these clips were distributed free to those attending the festival, during the course of the three days over 1000 clips were distributed. Following on from the success of this event it is planned to have an even greater pressence for the 2008 festival.
